Inter School Events

Our school participates in inter school events with other smaller schools. (RRS)  We have competitions in Cricket, Soccer, Netball, Hockey, Touch Rugby, Cross Country, Athletics and Swimming. These happen once or twice per term and we ask  parents to support us with travel to and from events. If we do not have sufficient help to transport the school will need to hire a bus with a charge incurred. It is important that the permission notice about this event is returned to school promptly so arrangements for travel etc. can be made.

Netball

Due to our numbers, our school can sometimes find it hard to create teams. However, we have teams that play in the Rodney netball competition. These teams play in Term 2.

Cricket

With parent support, we have a group of students that play cricket at Kaipara Flats for our school.

Swimming

Class swimming takes place towards the end of Term 4 and at the start of Term 1 each year. Classes organise swimming timetables around their usual classroom programmes. To accommodate all students in the school, the children usually have the opportunity to swim up to three times a week. If your child is unable to participate in class swimming at any time due to a medical condition please send a note to your child’s teacher prior to their scheduled swimming session. As swimming is part of the PE programme, all students are expected to swim.

During school swimming lessons goggles can be worn but must be properly fitted to the correct size by parents prior to coming to school as unfortunately teachers do not have the time to do this when supervising the class. During school swimming there will be no scuba masks allowed (e.g. the full face masks that cover the nose). Scuba masks restrict the full potential to develop correct breathing techniques in swimming strokes. Students are not to wear underwear in the pool this includes boxers. All students are to wear swim caps.
