Children are encouraged to raise an animal to show on the day, as Tauhoa is a traditional school, students raise farm animals: calves, lambs, kids or chickens. Indoor exhibits created by the children at school are also displayed.
Trophies are presented for both the indoor work and for the animals according to set criteria. The day is a major fundraiser for the school, which fits alongside the perfect old-fashioned Ag Day.
Preparations for Calf Club begin in the term prior to the big day, and parent support is vital for the successful running of the event. A committee is formed to ensure this happens and you are welcome to be part of this.
Children who are successful, are eligible to take their animal to Otamatea Group Day and are encouraged to do so.
